Applications, Resumes, and Personal Statements

During this workshop, students will learn the difference between the various documents commonly required for employment and academic applications. They will develop strategies for creating these documents in adherence to both stated and unstated expectations. As part of the workshop, students will dissect and interpret a sample job posting or application essay prompt. In the extended version (110 minutes), they will also have the opportunity to revise any current application materials they bring with them. 

Learning Objectives: For students to develop the ability to identify conventions of the application process, dissect and interpret job postings or essay prompts, and draft or revise application materials.

Special Requirements: Computer with projector

Location: The Writers' Center or classroom
