Critical Reading

Reading, Skimming, and Note-Taking for Academic Research

During this workshop, students will learn how to read/skim academic research materials in an efficient yet thorough manner. They will also develop skills for useful, organized note-taking. The workshop leader will help students to create their own ProQuest Flow accounts and assist them in understanding its functions. This workshop is designed for the English 201 classroom but can be customized for any research-oriented class, including upper-level courses in the social sciences and humanities.

Learning Objectives: For students to become skilled in critical reading for efficient note-taking and research, and to understand and utilize ProQuest Flow.

Special Requirements: Computer with projector

Location: The Writers' Center or classroom
