    Dr. Charles Lopez holds an undergraduate degree in business management, a master's degree in mental health counseling, and a doctorate in educational leadership. His research has focused on the affordability, accessibility, and academic success of military students and their families. Dr. Lopez has served students at Utah State, Tulane, and Stephen F. Austin State University. He has 27 years of experience in areas such as, orientation, counseling, career development, disability services, academic advising, student conduct, and veterans programs.  Dr. Lopez has also taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and is a licensed professional counselor. 

    At EWU, Dr. Lopez has supported student success in academic advising initiatives, learning commons, TRIO, and working with transfer student population.  As the EWU University College Associate Vice Provost he supports student success by providing high impact practice opportunities for faculty & students.  In addition, Dr. Lopez works closely with faculty in the areas of service learning, undergraduate research, Faculty Commons, General Education, Program Review, Ronald E. McNair Scholars, University Honors Program and upholding academic integrity standards.

    Freddy Vega proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and is honored to be a veteran. He graduated with BA in Communications and a minor in Spanish at EWU.  He also received a Certificate in Leadership & Women and Gender Studies. He graduated in June 2016 with a status of Magna Cum Laude and VP of The National Society of Leadership and Success at Eastern.  He was involved with various other activities aimed at student academic success which provided him an opportunity to be the EWU Symposium Coordinator as a graduate service appointment (GSA). He is now a full time student pursuing his master's in Communication as part of his component of higher education. He currently has a position as Flight Attendant at a major airline for 11 years and plans to use his accomplishments to move into an executive position at his airline or has other aspirations to be a Coordinator for a major corporation or possibly a Sports Team Coordinator.

    Ms. Mary Jo Van Bemmel is a graduate of EWU and holds a degree in Human Resource Management, General Management and Interdisciplinay Studies.  Since 1989 Ms. Van Bemmel is an employee of EWU and her work experiences include administrative and budgetary support for the Department of Mathematics and Financial Officer for the College of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics dean. 

    As the University College Admininstrative Specialist, Ms. Van Bemmel's responsibilites include support of the dean and associate dean in areas of undergraduate research, student academic integrity, academic reinstatement, Stewart Book Scholarship, student success & retention committee, program review, and office of community engagement.
