EWU Nursing Mother's Rooms

HISTORY OF THE NURSING MOTHER'S ROOMS

In fall 2013, the Women's Commision engaged in discussions with students, faculty, staff, and administrators about the ooportunities to create private spaces on campus to accommodate nursing mothers.

The commision worked with professionals in Facilities and Planning to identify campus locations and to furnish them to provide a private, comfortable and inviting space for nursing mothers on campus.

Several spaces were identified, and the first rooms were established in Pence Union Building and Showalter Hall. Rooms in Patterson Hall and Williamson Hall are also now open. Additional rooms may be added in the future.

Each room is currently outfitted with comfortable seating, a power source, sink and a locking door.
