Academic Probation, Dismissal & Reinstatement

Academic Warning?

Any first-quarter EWU student who does not earn the grades needed to be in good academic standing (2.0 cumulative GPA) is placed on Academic Warning. Please read carefully through the EWU Academic Probation, Dismissal and Reinstatement Policy

Students on Academic Warning who do not to earn a cumulative GPA of 2.0 in the following quarter will progress to Academic Probation. 

Academic Probation?

Any continuing EWU students who does not earn the grades needed to be in good academic standing (2.0 cumulative GPA) is placed on Academic Probation. 

Students on Academic Probation who do not earn a 2.0 for the following quarter, and whose cumulative GPA is still below a 2.0 will be academically dismissed from EWU.

Academic Dismissal?

Students on Academic Probation whose cumulative GPA remains below 2.0 and whose quarterly GPA is below 2.0 will be dismissed from the University. A student who has been academically dismissed from the University is not eligible to enroll at EWU for the following regular academic quarter (fall, winter or spring) and is required to remain out of school for at least one academic quarter after a first dismissal or one academic year after a second dismissal.

Academic Reinstatement?

Students who have been academically dismissed and would like to return to EWU may petition for academic reinstatement. To be eligible to petition, a student dismissed for the first time must remain out of school for one quarter; a student dismissed a second time must remain out of EWU for one academic year.
