"Let's Talk"

What is Let's Talk?

Let's Talk is a program that connects EWU students with support from experienced counselors from Counseling and Psychological Services without an appointment. CAPS counselors currently hold drop-in hours at two sites on campus. Let's Talk offers informal consultation—it is not a substitute for regular therapy, counseling, or psychiatric care. Talking with a counselor can help provide insight, solutions, and information about other available resources.

Let's Talk drop-in visits are:

  • Free
  • Confidential
  • No appointment necessary

Let's Talk Schedule

For Winter Quarter 2019, Let's Talk is available in the following locations:

Tuesdays 11am-1pm
Athletics Department, Reese Court Pavillion
Reese Room 217 (Lower Level)
Wednesdays 2-4pm
Residential Life
snyamncut 116A

How does Let's Talk work?

Appointments are first-come, first-served. The counselor on-site will listen closely to your concerns and provide support, perspective, and suggestions for resources.

Let's Talk is different from ongoing counseling, which usually consists of weekly or bi-weekly 45-50 minute sessions. Let's Talk is not formal therapy or counseling: It is a drop-in service where students can engage in a brief informal consultation with a counselor.

Is Let's Talk the right choice for me?

There is no wrong reason to seek counsel through Let's Talk, or CAPS. However, Let's Talk is an especially good fit for students who:

  1. Are not sure about counseling and wonder what it's like to talk with a counselor.
  2. Are not interested in ongoing counseling but would like the perspective of a counselor.
  3. Have a specific problem and would like someone with whom to talk it through.
  4. Have a concern about a friend and want some guidance about what to do.
