Prospective Members & Parents
For over 25 years, sororities and fraternities have contributed to Eastern Washington University, the Cheney community and made a positive difference in the lives of their members. They have supported and challenged students academically and provided tremendous growth opportunities for students outside of the classroom. Students who join fraternities and sororities not only receive support from their brothers/sisters while in college, they become part of a network that supports them long after they leave EWU.
Recent research from the University of Indiana highlighted that sorority and fraternity membership can have a significant impact on a student’s growth in seven key areas: critical thinking, self-awareness, communication, diversity, citizenship, membership and leadership and relationships. In presenting the research, the North-American Interfraternity Conference stated “these differences appear to be unique to the fraternity experience compared to other student groups and prove to be essential tools for building well-rounded individuals who are more completely prepared to join the workforce."
Joining the fraternity and sorority community at EWU will not only connect students with the campus, it will help connect them with men and women sure to become lifelong friends and support them as they pursue their individual goals.
