Bomb Threats & Suspicious Objects
Bomb threats usually occur by telephone. The person receiving a bomb threat should remain calm and attempt to obtain as much information as possible from the caller.
If you should identify a suspicious object (with wires, an unusual shape, the presence of a timing device, etc.) report it to University Police.
Under NO circumstances should you touch it, tamper with it, or move it in any way.
- Call University Police at 509.535.9233.
- Report your situation, including the time of the bomb threat and any information you may have been given. (Use Bomb Threat card.)
- Do NOT activate building alarm.
- Inform your supervisor or department head.
- Evacuate if instructed to do so.
- Stay at least 100 yards away from reported bomb location; you may move to another building.
- Do not re-enter building unless instructed it is safe to do so.
