Bus Rides - Spokane Transit Authority
This program has been renewed for the 2011-2012 academic year to increase bus ridership, reduce congestion, reduce parking demands, and to increase environmental friendliness in our region. Students who have a current Eagle Card identification, and faculty and staff in current pay status will be able to ride the Spokane Transit Bus System for free. Just swipe your ID card in the fare box. You may ride the bus anytime and anywhere the bus system travels.
Call your ETC 359-7921 for more details or see the Frequently Asked Questions.
Carpool:
Share the ride with one or more persons over 16 years of age as either a driver or rider. Note: a carpool partner may be going to work at another business or location.
Vanpool:
Share a ride of ten miles or more (one way) with 6 to 14 persons in a comfortable 15 passenger van. The van driver keeps the van at his house and rides free. Riders share the monthly cost of the van. Commuting by van which is less expensive and more fun than driving alone.
Bicycle:
Many have joined the bike set, in and around the Cheney area. They share good health and exercise. Some employees in other areas bike to a bus stop then take the bus. STA buses are equipped with bike racks so you can bike part way and hop on the bus to complete your commute. Enjoy the ride and increased good health. For more fun join a local bike club for activities, health and making new friends. www.spokanebicycleclub.org/rt
Walk:
A great mode of travel for any Cheney resident while promoting increased cardiovascular health.
Work Style Choices:
Telecommute:
Work from home and eliminate a vehicle trip which qualifies as a commute trip reduction option.
Compressed Work Week:
Working 4 ten hour work days in a week eliminates a vehicle trip which qualifies as a commute trip reduction option.
