Jeff Stafford Ph.D

Jeff Stafford

Dr. Jeffrey L. Stafford is a Professor of Organizational Communication and Leadership Studies at Eastern Washington University.  He has been involved with the study and practice of leadership for most of his 30-plus year career.  Dr. Stafford has a Ph.D. in Communication Studies, a Masters degree in Student Personnel and Counseling, and a BS in Architecture.  He also has advanced certifications in leadership and relational database programming.  Most of his professional consulting work aims at helping individuals and organizations learn to strategically improve while creating a dynamic and positive culture for the people who work within these organization.

Mary Ann Murphy has Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Washington and a Masters degree in Developmental Psychology from EWU.  This academic experience has prepared her for a thirty-year career as Executive Director for various non-profit agencies, providing health and social services to children, youth and families. Part of her work includes political advocacy for public policy affecting the juvenile justice and child welfare systems. She has been appointed by Governor Locke and Governor Gregoire to act as Chair on various state advisory committees dedicated to prevention, early intervention and rehabilitation for disadvantaged and high-risk children.

 

Marilee Roloff has been with Volunteers of America more than 25 years, where her compassion, tenacity and expertise in community collaboration make her a powerful administrator. Raised in the small town of Creston, Washington, she was taught from an early age to root for the underdog. Marilee is not only the founder of the Crosswalk teen shelter but is a well recognized community leader who has received multiple awards including recognition as a Chase Youth Commission Champion of Youth and recipient of the Children's Alliance Voices for Children award, a Volunteers of America National Leadership award, EWU Alumni Achievement award and a YWCA Outstanding Achievement award.

Internships are a critical step in reaching professional goals.   Sometimes the best way to get started in an internship is to talk to other students who have had positive experiences doing the same thing.  This session will give you a chance to talk with other students about their internship experiences.

Social Networking: Engagement in the Digital Age

In this day and age, it's important to use every search element to your advantage.  In fact, the National Association for Colleges and Employer's 2012 Student Survey indicated that 41percent of college graduates in the market for jobs are using social media to land them.  Rightfully so, because in 2012, 84 percent of recruiters used social media to recruit candidates that might not have otherwise applied.  This panel will discuss various social networking tools, and how to utilize them to find employment opportunities.

The right match can help you learn new skills, and help advance your career in ways you may have never thought.   This panel will discuss the many benefits of volunteering and how you can translate that experience to obtain other professional opportunities.
