Your First Quarter
Buy your textbooks in the University Bookstore, Pence Union Building (PUB) 152 or through the University Bookstore website. Students with classes at the EWU Riverpoint (Spokane) campus will need to buy those textbooks at the Spokane Center Bookstore website. Print off your class schedule and find your books by the course code, course number and section number (example: ENGL 101-05). To find your class schedule in MyEWU, go to:
- Click "Concise Student Schedule" in the "Registration Tools" box (in the left-hand column).

Attend New Student Orientation (New Fall Students Only)
Attend New Student Orientation and Welcome Week (NSO). You will learn about campus, meet people, and participate in fun activities. New Student Orientation is designed to acquaint new students with many of the aspects of campus life and the Cheney community. Many challenges lie ahead, and all new students should use this time to become familiar with campus and the many resources available.
Get EWU ID (EagleCard)
Get your EagleCard in the EagleCard Office in Tawanka Commons (TAW) 120. With your EagleCard, you can:
- Use your Dining meal points
- Ride any Spokane Transit Bus route for free (except during summer)
- Put money on your EagleFlex account (prepaid account for use around campus and in Cheney).
First day of the quarter
Check your schedule in EagleNET to check for updates to your class schedule, especially change of class location.
Get Connected to Canvas

Early in the quarter
Meet with your advisor
Remember to make your appointment early in the quarter to meet with your academic or departmental advisor. Connect with your Academic Advisor (and find their contact information). Priority Registration for the next term begins the 7th week of the current term. Students with less than 45 earned credits must meet with their academic advisor prior to registering each quarter. Advisors' calendars typically fill quickly, so make sure to schedule your advising appointment early each quarter!
Take the Math Placement Test
If you have not taken the Math Placement Test yet, plan to take it ASAP! Check the Math Placement Test website for test dates, practice test and instructions.
