A message from Rex Fuller, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs

Welcome to the EWU community and the Office of Academic Affairs!

Throughout our history, and from our beginnings as a normal school for teachers, our goal has been to prepare graduates to be productive citizens. As a regional comprehensive university, EWU remains committed to preparing its students for life in a dynamic global society.

We draw students, faculty and staff from around the world. Our campus promotes a rich and complex blend of cultures and life experiences. Our student body is one of the most diverse in the state, with over one-quarter from diverse backgrounds.

We engage one another as life-long learners in the arts and humanities, business, social, natural, and health sciences, and education. Our academic programs and faculty are innovative and at the forefront of their fields.

I invite you to join our community and to explore a universe of possibilities offered at EWU! Please contact any of our staff to learn more.

DEAN of LIBRARIES' SEARCH:

Members of the EWU Community:

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Ms. Suzanne Milton, EWU Librarian IV, has accepted the position of Dean of Libraries at Eastern.  Ms. Milton came to EWU in 1992 and has twenty-one years of professional academic experience.

At EWU, Ms. Milton's most recent assignment has been as Head of Reference Services and Chair of the Library Faculty.  Prior roles at Eastern include Coordinator of Extended Campus Programs, Access Services Librarian (Interlibrary Loan and Circulation Services), and Acting Head of Information Services.  In addition, she served for fifteen years as the book review editor of the international, refereed library journal, LIBRES.  Before coming to Eastern, Ms. Milton worked with the Inland Northwest Council of Libraries in Spokane and spent five years in the corporate sector as a librarian at St. Paul Medical Center in Dallas, National Realty Advisors, and the Dallas Museum of Art.  Ms. Milton holds a Master of Library Science from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Arts in German from California State University, Long Beach.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the search and screen committee for their service.  In addition, Ted Otto has led the unit in an admirable fashion during his tenure as Interim Dean. I know that Suzanne and Ted will work together to coordinate the upcoming transition,  and I am confident that we will continue to see the library faculty and staff strive for excellence in all aspects of their work.

Please join me in congratulating Ms. Milton on her new role as EWU's Dean of Libraries.

Best regards,

Rex  Fuller
