Project Management Office

Call For FY2013 IT Project Proposals (28 September - 14 October 2011)

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is formalizing the process for the university to request new information technology projects and/or services. This process applies to all information technology projects undertaken by Eastern Washington University, and by doing this, we can ensure that only those projects that warrant investment are actually undertaken and executed.

NEW!  If you plan on requesting and implementing an information technology initiative at any time during FY 2013, please follow the process below. The first step of this process requires the completion of the EWU OIT Project Request found in the Web Help Desk. OIT must receive your Project Request no later than close of business of the deadline (TBD).

OIT Project Request Process:

1. The Initiator logs into the Web Help Desk, Selects Customer Request, OIT Project Request under Request Type and fills out the request (NOTE: Anyone can initiate a request).  The form contains information such as:

a. Customer name, phone, and department
b. Description of the business need or production problem
c. High-level business reason category for the request
d. Goal of the project
e. Impact on the business unit
f. High-level work effort and complexity planning estimate.

2.  The request goes to the OIT Senior Management team for a high-level technical review and validation of the project level estimate.

3. The request goes to the VP/division head for a decision. Approval signifies authorization of the following efforts:

Level 1 (small projects): Proceed with project*

Level 2/3 (medium/large projects): Proceed with full project analysis

4. For level 2/3, the request goes to OIT, and a coordinator is assigned to the requestor to develop the detailed project proposal

 * If IT resources are available
