Office of Field Experience
P-12 school experiences and student teaching serve as critical components of Eastern Washington University's teaching program, linking theory and practice in a beneficial and relevant educational experience prior to regular employment. Field experiences are integrated throughout the teacher preparation program with most candidates starting after admission and continuing through student teaching. Field experiences generally occur in public schools in the greater Spokane area. Full-time student teaching internships may occur across a broader geographic spectrum within the State of Washington or northern Idaho. We work closely with our school partners to ensure successful and rewarding placements for all of our candidates.
Field experience requirements, placement options, and length vary by program. The OFE will guide your experiences by reviewing your plan of study and your progress throughout the program. Please explore this website to find information about your specific program and always feel free to contact OFE personnel if you have any questions. It is our constant goal to provide you with excellent support throughout all aspects of your field experiences and program.
All of us in the Department of Education look forward to supporting you throughout your field experiences and teacher certification!
